Corazon Aquino dies
| July 31st, 2009Former Phillipines president Maria Corazon Aquino has died after battling with colon cancer for nearly a year.
She was 76.
Corazon Aquino was the Philippines’ and Asia’s first woman president.
Her husband Begnino Aquino Jr. was murdered upon his arrival at the Manila airport in 1983, which led Corazon to become the leader of the “People Power” .
She then assumed the presidency in 1986, the same year she became Time’s “Woman of the Year”.
