Steve Jobs is a genius of design and marketing, but his track record on calling the right balance between utilizing proprietary arts and public resources (like open source and open standards) is more questionable.

Here we go again!

This week’s dose of Michael Jackson fanfiction is courtesy of The Sun!

As usual, the ever reliable British tabloid is reporting that Macaulay Culkin is Blanket Jackson’s biological father.

LOL!

According to the Sun, the Home Alone star is said to have donated sperm to help Michael create Prince Michael II – with an unknown surrogate mum.

A source told the newspaper, “It is well known Jackson and Macaulay shared a unique bond. Now rumours are spreading like wildfire that Macaulay, who Jackson nicknamed Mack, is actually Blanket’s biological dad.”

Another source added:”This isn’t just chitter-chatter, even Culkin suspects he’s Blanket’s father. So many names have been mentioned as prospective dads, and this is probably the wackiest yet. But Jackson and Culkin were best friends. He was one of the few people Jackson really trusted and Mack never let him down. Really, Jackson idolised him – that’s why he asked Mack to donate sperm. Deep down, I think he always wished Mack was his son. Creating Blanket was the next best thing.”

Oh boy! did someone made up this story whilst smoking the good shiz or what?

I didn’t know this, but apparently, the 29 year old former child actor is godfather to two of Michael’s children. He has yet to comment on the death of his pal.

UPDATE: TMZ has contacted Culkin’s mouthpiece Michelle Bega to ask whether The Sun’s story was true and they got the following reply: “The inquiries are too preposterous for us to even acknowledge.”

Let file this piece of shit under Claire Cruise’s madness, shall we??

Amazing Fonts

Great collection of 3D fonts. Very unusual and funny.

Oasis

Noel Gallagher for me was the main man in Oasis – he wrote most of their best songs.

But when Noel left the band on Friday night, my first thought was, ‘Liam, what have you done now?’

OK, I might’ve been a little bias, but for me, Liam is nothing without his big bro.

In a follow-up statement on Oasis blog at Oasisinet.com, Noel revealed his reasons for quitting the best band in the World.

The guitarist wrote:

“The details are not important and too great to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new. I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who’d paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got. While I’m on the subject, I’d like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise – although I don’t know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren’t up to it. In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I’ll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.”

It has been reported both brothers are set to go ahead with solo careers.

Noel will be a great solo artist as he has proven times and times again on stage doing acoustic stuffs.

As for Liam, fuck knows what’ll become of him. He needs to get his head out of his own ass first.

Linux File Permissions

| August 31st, 2009
Ian's Thoughts: "If you can't access some of the files on your very own Linux system, it's usually because of misconfigured file access permissions."
Wayan and I and others have wrangled over the last two years over what OLPC programs would cost, and whether countries can afford it.
Phoronix: "By the time Ubuntu 10.04 LTS rolls around next April, Canonical is interested in seeing Ubuntu boot on an Intel Atom netbook (specifically the Dell Mini 9) in less than ten seconds. These incredibly fast boot time goals even led Canonical to decide against investing more time in enhancing the boot experience with Red Hat's Plymouth."
IBM Developerworks: "This article gives you an introduction to filters, which allow you to build complex pipelines to manipulate text using the filters. You will learn how to display text, sort it, count words and lines, and translate characters, among other tasks. You will also learn how to use the stream editor sed."
